Toyota expanded its lineup in the 50s, launching the BJ truck and several other compact cars. By the late 1950s the company was exporting its products to the United States. The first export was the Toyota Crown. Further growth took place in the 1960s. The Corolla came out and was extremely popular. The 2000GT, the Publica, the Miniace, and the Hiace were also introduced. At the end of the 60s Toyota had sold more than a million vehicles.

The Toyota Prius was the first hybrid to be mass produced. It came out in Japan the late 90s and was on the American market early in the the new millennium.
